Luke's Twenty-Ninth Week

Luke had his "6 month" doctor appointment yesterday. He's 27 inches long and 17.4 pounds. Tall and skinny like dad. One tooth has come in and he's loves to eat carrots, rice cereal, papaya, peaches, pears, bananas, prunes, sweet potatoes, and broccoli so far. Here's 13 pictures from this week...

Practicing to sing in a wedding

Here's our first try at the song we may be singing at Kara's wedding. The levels aren't quite right because it's recorded with a headset we plugged into the computer, so turn your volume waaaaaaaay up.

Don't make fun of us too much, we haven't practiced yet, just printed off the lyrics and chords today. I'll have to look for the guitar tablature next.

Greg, Sharda, and Cooper

Natalie's cousin (and my old friend) Greg and his wife Sharda visited today and we got to celebrate their baby on the way! Yeah, Luke's gonna have another buddy to hang out with in Sacramento.
We haven't seen them in a while so it was great to catch up over some good lunch in the backyard.

Weekend in Sacramento

After Kara's shower we headed to the Osuna's for their baby shower. They've got a fun house with a rabbit...
and a huge St. Bernard!
Luke had a great time mushing up these bananas and trying to get them in his mouth.
The cat looks mad because Luke likes pulling his hair out.

Condo is Rented

We finally got the condo rented this weekend. I talked with 45 people, and various friends in San Diego showed the place to 22 of them. After one month of showings I went back to my prospective renter spreadsheet and emailed all the people that hadn't given me a definite no yet. That was Sunday morning at 8am. By 8:30am, the 5th person I talked with - over a month ago - called and said, "I need a place now, can I move in tomorrow?" She checked out the place, liked it, faxed me the paperwork, and moved in the next day. --It pays to keep good notes!!

Luke's First Word!

Luke said "Dada" today! Actually it was more like "dadadadagawa - dadagagadadada - dawadadada..." but I'll take it. So we celebrated with a beach day.We went to Capitola Beach with our friends Craig and Joy and their 3 kids. This was Luke's first time in the sand, he was intrigued.

Superhero Birthday Party

The "Channing House" is where I lived in Palo Alto from 2002-2004 until I met Natalie. We got the chance to go back this weekend, see our old friends, and celebrate a couple birthdays. Our superhero costumes were put together from what we had in the garage; I went as a space cowboy. Here I am with my old roommate and birthday boy, Broccoliman. Notice his utility belt, mini broccolis on his right and a tupperware full of ranch dressing on his left.
Natalie went as Butterflywoman, kind of like Catwoman, without the leather. Here she is with the birthday girl.

Pool Day at the Palms

The hotel has a huge kiddie pool and an even bigger adult pool. Luke sported his new board shorts and enjoyed swimming.Eating solids is a new thing and he loves it.
Our hotel has 3 indoor themes: Key West, Italian Castle/Marketplace, and Shack in the Bayou that doubles as an amazing steakhouse. This is the Key West area:

Animal Kingdom

I never understood why people bring babies to Disney World. Now I know. It's because the parents have a work conference in the area.
Here's Luke watching the Lion King show.
Luke was riding in style around the park. And it just so happened that my mom, grandma, and brother were in Florida too -- I guess we have to go to another state to see the family.
My favorite part of Animal Kingdom was the safari ride; I don't have to go to Africa anymore, already saw all the animals.
These guys have cool long horns.
Lots of alligators.
Rhino chasing an ostrich across the road.
Many of the animals walk around freely together.
Babies!
Lion!
Naked Luke liked the parade; here he is with Mickey.
Family picture in front of the big cement tree in the middle of the park.
Luke had a great time. After a big day at the park, we took a dip in the big hotel pool.

Flying to Orlando

We're headed to Kissimmee, Florida for the ASLMS conference at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center. And maybe we'll see some of Disney World while we're there too.

This is what our tray table looks like when we fly with Luke.We reserved the back row so we wouldn't bother too many people and so we'd have a better chance of having an empty seat to put Luke... it worked!
Notice that the unlucky guy sitting in front of Luke doesn't get to put his seat back for the entire 6 hour flight.
